About me
Translation has been part of my job whether I have been teaching, reporting, editing or writing fiction. In my present situation as managing director of PRFOCUS translation is a substantial part of my company business, consulting foreign firms on Danish market opportunities or Danish companies in foreign fields. We run courses in advanced business English and do interpretation services for companies like: CPS (Chemical Products), DSB (National Danish Railways), and Oticon (International hearing aid company). We call our language/translation section Acrobat, because we’re quick, mentally agile, and work with stunning precision.
Qualifications
Personally, I mastered in English from the University of Aarhus (cand. phil.)1973 and supplied my education with an Hons. degree from the Danish school of Journalism, 1978. In 1969-1970 I was a teacher of Danish language and literature at the University of Newcastle, UK, and in 1977 I was a reporter at Chicago Sun Times, US. From 1978 till 1995 I was employed at the national Danish newspaper Politiken as a travelling reporter, a foreign correspondent (Germany) and as a foreign editor. During my stint as a foreign correspondent in Germany I acquired fluency in spoken and written German. In 1996 I became managing news editor at the national Danish television, TV3.In 2000 I was hired as chief of PR- & communication for an IT-company, and as of 2001 I have been an independent consultant, freelance journalist, translator, and author with my own company: PRFOCUS.
Experience
I have published articles in a number of foreign newspapers and magazines including: The Guardian, The Sunday Times, Chicago Sun Times, Neue Energie, and Frankfurter Rundschau. In 2002 my first novel, Operation Phoenix, a political thriller was published. In 2006 I published my second novel Kaperkongen (King of Privateers) and a non-fiction book on Renewable Energy (Vedvarende modvind)
